Alberto Blest Gana y el Rey de La Araucanía y Patagonia

No hace mucho, la expedición chilena que tomó posesión del Estrecho de Magallanes logró hacerlo justo antes de la llegada de una expedición naval francesa con el mismo objetivo. Además, las actividades de Orelie-Antoine coincidieron con los intentos de Napoleón III de instalar al archiduque de Austria Maximiliano en el trono de México. El artículo intenta examinar las actividades del ministro plenipotenciario en Londres y Paris, Alberto Blest Gana, para averiguar y frustrar las actividades de este francés y sus seguidores en Europa, a nivel de prensa, gobiernos y financistas. En llevar a cabo esta misión, Blest Gana mostró las habilidades que desplegaría en un campo aún mayor durante la Guerra del Pacífico.
